Using the full acceleration lane to match the speed of moving traffic (50–70 mph), checking your right blind spot, timing your merge cleanly into safe gaps, and never stopping on the slip road.
Safe Overtaking at 70 mph
Applying advanced MSM routines (Mirrors, Signal, Manoeuvre), calculating closing speeds of fast-approaching cars in lane 2 and 3, and moving back into lane 1 smoothly when the pass is complete.
Following Distances & The 2-Second Rule
At 70 mph, your car travels over 31 metres per second. Learn how to maintain the 2-second gap (doubling to 4 seconds in the wet), scan half a mile ahead for brake lights, and avoid tailgating.
Smart Motorway Gantries & Red 'X' Lanes
